Despite a successful marriage, Severine, the wife of a doctor, is bored and to live up to her dreams she begins to work during the day as a prostitute. Severine regaines a good mood and her will to live. The things get complicated when one of her clients falls in love with her, and later another one turns out to be a friend of the family. Rest is pure surrealism in the Bunuel style.
French-Italian movie, one of the many surreal films in Luis Bunuel career. The greatest asset of the film is Catherine Deneuve as Severine, beautiful, mysterious, subtle. You can argue for hours whether the movie is real or just a dream of the main character.
