Geologist Kristian Eikjord is about to leave his job at picturesque Geiranger, but if his suspicions are right the area can be stricken by natural disaster.

In the summer of 1942, the arctic convoy PQ-17 sets out towards the Arkhangelsk with vital war supplies. When U-Boats attack, the convoy has to split and a Norwegian crew of a merchant ship has to carry on without any support.
