Doctor Martin Ellingham moves to a small town of Portwenn in Cornwall, where he used to spend his childhood. He meets his rather ecentric neighbours and patients, but the fact is he isn’t an average doctor either.

London policeman Nicholas Angel is transferred to a small village of Sandford, where his special skills will be wasted on petty thief cases or jaywalking. Unless there is some hidden agenda in Sandford.

Jack Armstrong is not a typical police detective - lazy, disorganized, mostly absent from his desk and can be found in a nearby bar. To counterweight his personality, he is competent enough not to be fired.
