Born 18 February 1925 in New York - American actor, played over 100 film roles. He also
appeared in several television series. Best known for the Naked Gun comedy series, Cool
Hand Luke, The Dirty Dozen, Bandolero! , The Boston Strangler, Airport series, Earthquake, Dallas. He also has lent his distinctive voice to the animated films. He was in the Army from World War II and went on to serve 16 years, both in combat, and in his later years, as an Armed Forces Radio and Television officer. Oscar winner for supporting actor in the movie Cool Hand Luke (1967, dir. Stuart Rosenberg).
