French actor, born André Gaston Maillol, most widely remembered from his roles in British films and TV series. One of his most memorable parts was Sergeant François Chevalier in six of The Pink Panther series films, as well as small parts in Fawlty Towers (as André, the chef) and Yes, Minister (as European Agricultural Commissioner Maurice).
