A thief named McMurphy tries to avoid goinf to jail by pretending to be crazy. He is sent to the center for the mentally ill. In this institution the patients are under control, if not actually terrorized, by nurse Ratched. When it turns out that McMurphy will spend here some time he begins to make friends with other patients, trying to enliven them and have some fun. His ideas meet strong opposition from nurse Rached and McMurphy is in constant conflict with. After taking patients for the trip without her permission, later he organizes a party with girls from outside, which leads to the dramatic events.
The film won five Oscars and is one of the best films of all time. After the projections in cinemas the conditions and methods of treatment in such institutions were analyzed and subsequently changed. Jack Nicholson plays great, and after this film was considered one of the best actors, and not without a reason.
